OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide a voice and resources for the sweatshop workers living within Canada - not only to ensure that their basic needs are met, but also to enhance their overall quality of life. Our aim is to help empower sweatshop workers through the provision of tools and resources and help them become aware of workplace health risks and hazards that they are subjected to.

There is no one agreed upon definition of a sweatshop, however what often comes to mind is the extreme. For this reason, we are embracing this definition of a sweatshop: as an "employer (or work place) that violates more than one labor law governing minimum wage and overtime, child labor, industrial homework, occupational safety and health, workers’ compensation, or industry regulation."

"A lot of it is not captured in official surveys. It is really part of an underground economy."
